Computational Biomechanics & Hemodynamics: Conducting high-fidelity computational modeling under the supervision of Dr. Alison Marsden within the Department of Pediatrics (Cardiology). My research bridges advanced computational fluid dynamics (CFD) with clinical applications, aiming to improve surgical planning and cardiovascular disease understanding.
GPU-Accelerated Linear Solvers: Spearheading the acceleration of the open-source svMultiPhysics finite element solver. By offloading sparse matrix-vector products and Krylov-based iterative solvers to GPUs using Trilinos (Tpetra, Belos) and Kokkos, I am working to reduce linear solver wall-times by up to 90%, transitioning complex multi-physics models closer to rapid clinical deployment.
Fontan FSI Hemodynamics: Developing Fluid-Structure Interaction (FSI) models of the Fontan circulation and total cavopulmonary connections (TCPC). This work focuses on quantifying the exact pressure landscapes and biomechanical loads in single-ventricle patients to understand and mitigate the hemodynamic bottlenecks that drive Fontan-associated liver disease (FALD).
Microfluidic Device CFD: Executed end-to-end computational fluid dynamics analyses of microfluidic channels designed to house human cardiac organoids. Utilizing Autodesk Fusion for 3D CAD and tools like TetGen and VMTK for mesh generation, I quantified wall shear stress distributions across varying geometric configurations to optimize the mechanobiological signaling required for vascular network remodeling.
Mentorship & Pedagogical Development:
Postdoc Mentoring Certificate (Tier 1: Learn): Actively honing my leadership and advisory capabilities to foster a productive, inclusive research environment. This certification provided a rigorous framework for exploring diverse teaching and learning styles, equipping me with the hands-on skills to effectively manage, guide, and adapt my mentoring approach for undergraduate students, graduate trainees, and research assistants. Through case-study-driven “Mentoring Mondays” and interactive workshops, I have established a formalized, reflective mentoring philosophy.
SFDC Teaching Workshop: Completed an intensive 3-day instructional improvement workshop tailored for biomedical and life sciences. Trained in a comprehensive 7-component educational framework—spanning the creation of an optimal learning climate, effective communication of goals, and the promotion of self-directed learning—to enhance my versatility as a scientific educator.

PhD Researcher, Mechanical Engineering
May 2021 - August 2025
Reduced Order Modeling for Turbulent Flows: Developed and analyzed advanced computational frameworks for high-fidelity and reduced-order modeling (ROM) of environmental and aerodynamic flows using the variational multiscale (VMS) method under the supervision of Dr. Artem Korobenko.
Technical Achievements: Implemented a consistent VMS-ROM framework using Proper Orthogonal Decomposition (POD) and Galerkin projection to drastically reduce computational costs while preserving physical fidelity for complex dynamics, including smooth-body flow separation, wind turbine wakes, and thermally stratified buoyancy-driven flows.
Key Projects: Conducted detailed mesh-refinement and spanwise sensitivity studies comparing linear finite elements (FEM) and isogeometric analysis (IGA) on canonical geometries. Pioneered a mesh-based hyper-reduced ALM-VMS-ROM framework for multi-turbine wind farm simulations, achieving significant computational speed-ups without the need for supremizer enrichment.
